Matteo Bellotto earned a diploma in clarinet from the Modena Conservatory, a diploma in music education from the Bologna Conservatory, and a diploma in opera singing from the Parma Conservatory. He performs primarily baroque repertoire and has collaborated with world-renowned conductors such as Rinaldo Alessandrini, Gustav Leonhardt, Gabriel Garrido, Diego Fasolis, Filippo Maria Bressan, Enrico Gatti, Claudio Cavina, Leonardo Alarcon, and Maxim Emelyanychev.

He has recorded and performed the role of Plutone in Monteverdi’s “Orfeo” at the Lufthansa Festival in London, at the National Auditorium in Madrid, in Regensburg, and in Melk. In 2008, he debuted the role of Seneca in “L’Incoronazione di Poppea” at the Herne Festival and performed Lutheran Masses by J.S. Bach under the direction of Gustav Leonhardt. He works with the Swiss Radio Orchestra and Chorus, with which he has had the opportunity to perform as a soloist in Cossoni’s Vespers, Paèr’s opera “Agne” and the opera “Ercole Amante” by F. Cavalli. With the ensembles La Venexiana, Concerto Italiano, and Cappella Mediterranea, he has undertaken numerous tours around the world and has performed in the halls and theaters of Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai, Adelaide, Seattle, New York, Houston, São Paulo, and Buenos Aires. He collaborates regularly with the Ensemble Il Pomo d’Oro, the Ghislieri Choir and Orchestra and with La Compagnia del Madrigale.

In recent years, he has regularly participated in major European Baroque music festivals, such as the Monteverdi Festival in Cremona, the Ambronay, Bruges, Antwerp, and Wroclaw Festivals. He has recorded oratorios and sacred music by Antonio Vivaldi, Stradella, Monteverdi, Pasquini, Corbetta, Heinrich Schütz, and Brunelli for various labels, including Opus111, Glossa, Symphonia, Tactus, and Brilliant Classics.

At the same time, he dedicates himself to contemporary music: he has performed the first performances of Gavin Bryars’s music with the Swiss ensemble Vox Altera, Igor Stravinsky’s “Les Noces,” the role of Pilate in Giancarlo Facchinetti’s “Passio Christi,” and the role of Superman in Luca Mosca’s opera “Mister Me.” He also sang in F. Hoch’s opera “Il Processo Continua” and Luca Francesconi’s “Gesualdo Considerato Come Un Assassino.”
